TAMU Webmaster's Blog

Information and insight from the A&M Webmasters

Straight from the Source

Digging into this SEO project has been enlightening. My first stop was Google and Bing’s online documentation, then the better industry pages. When describing the important elements for search optimization, almost all of these industry pages referenced statements from Google’s Matt Cutts as evidence for their claim. After seeing the name mentioned several times, it rang a bell when I saw it on an unrelated YouTube search.

Following up on this, I found that he has posted a whole series of short video clips talking about all manner of Google-related topics. Almost everything I had read on the various SEO industry pages was covered in one or more of these videos. Hearing not just how Google operates but also why the decisions were made (such as why the hyphen is considered a word break character but the underscore is not) was fascinating. I highly recommend that you take a few minutes and watch these clips.
