Site Checking Software Partnership

July 10th, 2013 by Erick Beck

We all know that getting software agreements at a campus wide level is difficult. Most vendors base their product pricing on the number of seats, giving discounts proportional to how many you order. This is great for centralized campuses, but it is problematic for us. As individual departments or offices we generally don’t have enough to get the best pricing, making us do without or pay a much higher price. The alternative is to get enough individual offices across campus to pool together, but this has always proved difficult.

We are currently trying to buck that trend and are working with a few others across campus to get enough web pages to make the SiteImprove service affordable. We think this service — which checks your pages for broken links, misspellings, accessibility compliance, and more — would benefit campus, but the pricing puts it out of reach for us individually.

We have a few departments on board with pooling our page count, but we need more. If any of you on campus would be interested in using the service please let me know. I can give you the pricing that we are attempting to reach and in a few days should be able to send you a link to a demo of the product.
