Information and insight from the A&M Webmasters

Mobile Site Changes

December 8th, 2009 by tamuwebmaster

As the mobile site project continues to grow, the team has started to realize some of the tools we have implemented from the beginning of the mobile project are not performing as they were advertised. We have decided to drop the WALL4PHP markup, which aided in browser sniffing and HTML display. While we still agree with the ideas behind the open-source project, we have decided that pushing a single format in XHTML-MP is the best route.

Speaking of routes, the bus route code has been completed and is now in testing. As soon as we get done cleaning up the WALL markup we plan on entering Beta. Maybe now is a good time for us to find a group of willing A&M students with various mobile devices to give this all a try. As for the team, we are all very excited to see forward progress with this project. Dropping the WALL markup is most certainly going to help us move faster towards our release goal.
