University calendar: 350 events and counting

August 31st, 2009 by mdmcginnis

The university calendar at reached two milestones this morning: at 11 am it included exactly 200 upcoming events (already spanning the whole school year) and exactly 150 archived events (and that’s only since June). Activities that I never heard of before are now being featured on the Texas A&M home page, TAMUmobile, the Howdy portal, Google searches, and in many more places – soon to include Facebook.

So far…

  • More than 60 departmental calendars have been created
  • 150 people have joined the ranks of event creators by logging into the system with their NetID and password

To keep up with the latest news and tips about the calendar, we strongly encourage all calendar users to join the Calendar Announcement email list by sending a message to Leave the subject blank, but in the body put “SUBSCRIBE calendar-announce firstname lastname”. This is a low-volume list, used only to send important announcements and helpful corrections.

We’re also constantly updating our calendar user documentation based on best practices, what works, and what can work better.
