Calendar – A Second Look

May 19th, 2009 by Erick Beck

I have updated the calendar-test server with something that will be closer to a final skin for the new calendar.  Feel free to check in and look around.  I haven’t changed any base settings or erased the entries made last week so there should be several good test events to give you an idea of how a populated calendar will look.  The next step will be to go take one more pass through and fix up the text wording and a few other minor details, but we’re getting pretty close.

One thing that we have been consistently asked for is a method of importing RSS feeds into the system.  By default it does not have this capability.  In fact, very few of the calendars we previewed did imports.  However, I think there is enough interest that I’m going to add it to the list of features to add.  It won’t be immediate, and it won’t be a complete solution because much of the information in the database schema just isn’t contained in RSS files, but it will be a start.

As before, the lists like location, sponsor, event category, etc. are all still placeholder.  These will be filled in before the calendar goes live.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please send them along.
