Information and insight from the A&M Webmasters

Notifications on m.tamu.edu

February 25th, 2010 by tamuwebmaster

During emergencies and critical situations it is important to us that you receive the information as soon as possible through any available outlet.

On Tuesday, we had a weather pattern that could have created dangerous conditions for faculty, staff, and students which led the administrators to adjust schedules and release some members of the Aggie family. Judging from the number of hits on www.tamu.edu starting around 1:00 p.m., you were looking to us to disclose this information as soon as possible.

When we learned of the closure, we created a news item and provided the information on www.tamu.edu. However, the main Texas A&M website was not the only available outlet. In addition to emails sent out by Assistant Vice President Meyer and President Loftin, we provided a notification on the m.tamu.edu site shown below.

This notification method will be used for events in the future so that you can receive timely information when you are away from a desktop.

  1. I’m very excited about TAMU Mobile. It was my first source for information about the weather advisory. Great job guys! You’re my heroes 😀
