No Holiday Downtime

December 2nd, 2008 by Erick Beck

We’re getting to that time of year where things on campus tend to slow down, but we still have quite a long to-do list on our plate.  We are currently trying to finish up the new Brand Guide site, and soon thereafter will have a companion Web Style Guide.  My thought on the style guide is actually to publish it in a wiki format and open it up to comments from around campus. We want to make it a living, changing document that evolves along with web standards rather than something that is set in stone and has to face periodic large-scale rewrites.

The department has also been busy with the Do You Wonder? Bus Tour. We have had a bus custom created, and it will be visiting high schools around the state as a way of introducing college attendence as a possibility and explaining to students what kind of preparation is necessary.

  1. I will look forward to the web style guide. We are moving all the Corps of Cadets unit web pages (outfits.tamu.edu) to WordPress MU. Over the holiday break I will be working on a highly customizable WordPress theme for the different outfits that will incorporate guidelines from the current TAMU Brand Guide Site. This will be a big improvement, so whenever that web style guide comes out I’ll be looking for it!
